Shimano SPD-M54
I picked these up at REI after returning a pair of Time ATAC XS’s. There. I said it. I tried and tried, I wanted to be like all of you guys who love the ATACs, but I just couldn’t do it. After giving up on the ATAC's, I decided to just buy myself a nice set of SPD's, since all I ever use are the cheapos. After the first ride, I fell even deeper in love with the design. I guess I’m just a born and bred SPD guy, and these really are a great buy at the price.
Mack Hubs

This review is for some of the nicest track hubs I’ve ever laid my greasy hands on. Being a Japanese parts fanatic, I felt a little strange putting parts on my bike that weren’t made in Japan…but I soon realized just how stupid that was when I saw these amazing hubs in person.
Tektro’s R100 levers and R556 brakes

A Review: Tektro’s R100 levers and R556 brakes
Brakes… they’re quite possibly the most boring component one can install on his or her bicycle, and many, such as the folks at Old Skool Track and the mysterious Jason Racer have very strong feelings against the use of brakes on bikes of the fixed wheel variety. I’m a proud brake user, but do not write to add anything to this ridiculous debate which still spawns pages and pages of argument on BFSSFG. I write instead to speak of one of the most worthwhile upgrades I have made to my trusty, somewhat rusty Schwinn winter commuter.
