I time every turn so that my pedal stroke is at the optimal point so I can get maximum lean.
i actually thought of this kinda and tried it and i just looked ridiculous, lol i was leaning hard when my pedal was up then straightened as it was going down and kept doing this...
i just figured theres something i must b doing wrong

Can you tell what size seatpost collar size you need of you know your seatpost size? I know my seatpost is a 31.6 but can I tell from that what size collar I'd need?
edit - nm, apparently my question was so dumb i was able to figure it out on my own. sorry.

I have no idea if this twisted spoke pattern has a name, but all anyone really needs to know about it is that it is done exclusively for looks and is functionally inferior ot 3x but if it's done well it'll probably not give you any problems.

"Might have had 26" wheels instead of 27", which may be an issue. Keep finding more info on these bikes, looks like the small ones ran 26"...
Well, the idea behind 26" rims for mountain bikes was that after you put on the big ass tires, the functional diameter would be about the same as 700c's. However, if this is a roadbike, I doubt it was built to accomodate mtn bike size tires. The difference in rim diameter is about 5cm, or 2.5cm from axle to the end of the rim. That's just under an inch. If he has an extra inch of space, yes, it should be fine* **.
*providing he plans to run brakeless.
** chain stays and brake bridge are 2 additional factors that might interfere.
So I'm finally buying some levers for my new bike, and was planning on getting some tektro r200's, but I see they also have a long pull version (rl520). Any reason I should consider these over the r200's for use with avid shorty cantis?

is it normal to have some threads of the free cup of the bottom bracket showing, outside of the lockring? using a spanner, i thought i got the cup in as far as it would go while still permitting the spindle to move, but when i put the lockring on all the way to the frame, yea, it went on PAST some of the threads of the free cup. i have a good chainline and everything seems to work fine, but in my mind it looked different before i took the thing apart to repack.
Also, is the opposite situation OK within reason?
I installed a BB on a bike I'm building and the cup is recessed about 1/2 thread from the face of the lockring. Is that sketchy?

i dont think so, what I've always heard is that you need something like 9 full turns for threads to be properly engaged, but it might be 6 (I dont really remember the number). beyond that number wont make much difference as long as its tightened the proper amount.

What is the best way for tape to stay on?, I don't have tape on my bike anymore, but when I used to, the caps at the end of the handle bar used to get loose all the time and the tape would start getting undone.

Would it be relatively OK to use a track cog without a lockring on the free wheel side of my flip flop hub on the Velodrome (just for riding some fun laps not competition)? Or is the freewheel side somewhat dished or anything?
And is it true that you shouldn't mix/match different brands of track cog for fear of damaging threads when switching cogs?
how do i install a miche bb? do i just crank in the non-drive side cup flush with the bb shell, and then insert the cartridge and then screw in the drive side cup and fuck around with the chainline.
Our "Cyclotouriste" cassettes are an excellent choice for loaded touring bikes with full-sized chainrings, giving excellent climbing gears without sacrificing comfortable gear spacing for useless high end gears.

you shouldn't switch between threadings, so if you have an English threaded cog you shouldn't replace it with an Italian threaded one. Since different brands of cogs have different threadings, I guess your statement is partly true.

I started with the drive side cup flush with the BB as baseline for adjusting in or out from there.

I have always had good luck wrapping the threads on the cups with white plumber's tape before installation. Grease the threads in the BB shell. This works well to keep the cups from backing out at all and is especially helpful on Italian threaded bb shells.
