why are the pro's adding stupid shit like weight in the seattube when they could just beef up their bars or seatpost or sit on a rolls or something?
Lots of pros ride aluminum parts in those areas. Those that don't do so probably because of sponsorship.

so i set up my c-dale as a magic gear fixed gear today. it's making HELLA noise in the drivetrain area. the chain tension is damn near perfect aside from having to use an out-of-round cog to get the magic gear. not too tight or too lost in any area. chain line is straight....and that's all i can think of.

I'd been running 48/17 (~ 74 GI) on my old fixay and it felt great.
Been running 48/19 (~ 66 GI) for the past few weeks on my current fixay and, although I appreciate the ability to climb a little more easily, at times, especially in flat terrain, it feels slightly "sloppier", if that makes sense. The higher cadence needed to get up to speed makes my pedaling feel a bit frantic at times and hence, I think I feel slightly less in control than with the lower cadence I had with the higher gearing.
And as weird as it may sound, at times I feel that I was better at slowing down, stopping, doing SKIDZZZZZ, and riding in general with the higher gearing. Maybe the lower cadence gave me a slightly longer window to dial in my pedaling and back-pressure as needed?
DQ: Does that (especially the last part) make any sense at all? Is the lower cadence more "zen" (lulz)? Am I talking out of my ass / psyching myself out / both?
i think pretty much it just means you need to learn to spin.
everyone has a threshold where they just aren't gonna spin any faster than that....but spinning 66gi on the street you're probably well within your limits. just try to get your feet going in a smooth, if fast, circle.
i think perhaps talk out of ass x psych collabo is all up in this beezy. but mostly "y'all need to mufuckin' SPIN" is up in the house.

Ah yes. Kind of what I had in mind as well, sort of expecting to be wrong, but wanted to ask to make sure. I guess I just got so used to mashing at a lower cadence, that spinning at high RPM feels slightly unnatural now.
Sounds like I should just stick to the lower gearing a little longer and try to improve my technique. I'll continue to give it a shot.
How the butts do I set up cantilever brakes? My pake c'mute has no rear cable hanger on it but I could figure a way to attach one. It also has one of the snake noodly things by the seat junction n fuck.

i think problem solvers makes something that attaches to your seat post clamp/binder bolt that will act as a hanger.
I do have binder bolt hanger but the clearance from that for the cable makes no sense. because small area.
Shorten your transverse cable so that you can set you cable carrier lower? Move your pads closer to the rim? It will work. I've set up cantis on many pake c'mutes.
What's a good helmet that's nice and ventilated but won't break the bank, and is a little more durable? ie I'm rough on my gear and can't have nice things.

2. My other main issue (if you're certain it's not your other stuffs) is that my brooks creaks, but since it creaks with my pedal stroke, it sounds alot like my drivetrain.
Thats what I'm thinkin to try at least...

So, I have a fit issue. On one of my bikes, which might be a tad too big for me, I feel like I need to be "over" my pedals more. I can't bring my seat up anymore, and I don't know if fore aft is enough. I just feel like I am pushing from behind my pedals not over them, and it's awkward. It's kinda comfy in a way, but a real bitch for trying to be speedy/fast on. At 3 O'Clock my knee is slightly behind where it needs to be in relation to the pedal, even with a lot of fore.
So, questions:
What is a good seatpost that "bends forward"? (I'm sure there is a name for this but IDGAF)
Am I an idiot if I flip my seatpost around temporarily? Furthermore, is this even acceptable?

Keep moving your saddle forward until you realize how much it sucks to be over your pedals, not behind them, then gradually move it back over the course of the next year or two until it's behind where it currently is.
Try to investigate other aspects of your fit that are affecting your pedaling, like saddle height, handlebar height, cleat positioning and stem length.

After fuckering around with front and rear Simplex derailleurs on a Gitane Tour de France mixte, replacing pieces, attempting to get them working again, I snapped the plastic on the front and the rear is hanging all loosey goosey at the moment.
I know there are people who are totes into Simplex, but apart from historical integrity I cannot fathom why anybody would be fond of these parts.
So first of all: Why?
Secondly: Should I continue to look into getting them working again or should I just replace and be done with it?
Note this bike is not for me and will be sold for our Collective.
Only reason why is a bad case of nostalgia. Old simplex derailleurs suck. Find an old bike with suntour parts on it, convert it to a janky singlespeed or fixie, and use the derailleurs on the Gitane. Old suntour derailleurs rock. Use the simplex derailleurs for a bad art project.
