Here's a thread for the mileage and KOM (king of masochists) competition
The Rules:
- To participate you need to say so at the beginning of the month
- If you have a computer post up a photo with your initial mileage
- Make a weekly post with your mileage updates
- Make a final post with your overall mileage
- Talk shit on your fellow competitors
- Quitting your job, school, or both and going on a tour is grounds for disqualification
- Going on holiday and spending every day on the bike is dubious at best
- The contest is from 00:01 local time from the first day of the month to 11:59 on the last.
- Most folks use mapmyride.com for elevation gain, it's not accurate all the time, but it works
- You must be this tall to ride
- A computer is not absolutely necessary if you track your mileage accurately.
- This is an honor system sort of thing, have some. Also, have some beer.
- Trainer and roller miles do not count. Get outside and ride your fucking bike.
- More rules as I can make 'em up.
Update: For those that have outstanding questions about how to tarck your mileage: The "honor system" means that we trust you to accurately assess the number of miles that you've ridden. Some amount of data in support of that assessment helps establish that trust. Nobody is going to come 'round and audit your numbers. Measure your mileage however you like and be fair to yourself and everyone else competing.

55 miles yesterday.
30 today.
Starting year off right.
Do we need a new thread?
ftfy
Sure... yes... no. Whatever really. New thread makes sense to me but it was your idea to begin with so I'll defer to that sentiment above.
Till Heath decides, I had 76 yesterday and 24 today. It's supposed to snow tomorrow. So yeah, I'm hoping for a snow covered redrock loop sometime this week. Will provide pics.
Can I talk km's? I'm going to anyway. 84 yesterday.
motion to take tarck metric
Approve.
Was gonna ride to work tomorrow but my bike's out in the country D:
Totally.
Rule 24:
Speeds and distances shall always be referred to and calculated in kilometers. This includes while discussing cycling in the workplace with your non-cycling coworkers, serving to further mystify our sport in the web of their Neanderthalic cognitive capabilities. As the confused expression spreads across their unibrowed faces, casually mention your shaved legs. All of cycling’s monuments are measured in the metric system and as such the English system is forbidden.
The Rules.
LOL. Stay right there. Imma go put some cones out. - Heath
edit2: dont GIS, i did, dont. NSFW - Miguel

not participating, but braggin. 1800 feet of climbing over 4 miles on the fixie bike today. Agility in the mountains, we have it:

AYHSM Non-driveside riser'd bike.

48x15 no braks. My friend is stupid.

We gonna start measuring our dicks using metric to make them feel bigger, too?
However we do it, I recommend naming your unit of measure as a rule. Miles and Kilometers. Feet and Meters. If someone takes up keeping totals again, this will help them.
Love this picture
I'm feeling conflicted between RAD and WTF?!?! Do we need to start a fund to buy Dima proper cycling clothing and gearing?
Any idea how fast you made it up? I did that climb in 25:45 back in March. I think I'd save a bit more for the last third now I know about the 20% grade before it gets really easy near the top.
your mom loves my 157.5876 mm
I'm just going to change my name to metric rhys. That should make things clear.
DBR, is there something wrong with your friends legs? Or do they just look like bread sticks cos he tall?
The main thing to remember about dima is he's 19 or so. He'll grow out of ridiculous gearing just like we all did.
Not really sure. I'm definitely bringing a geared bike on saturday cos the fixed gear is slow during that steep bit toward the end.
Thanks, our smoggy inversion creates a nice spooky suburbia
He's certainly a skinny bugger, but I think they look pretty normal in other non-stork like photo poses.
Just bike commute today... 8 miles.
54.64km today.
I really need a badass front light so I can ride longer.
25 miles with a paltry 523 feet of climbing.
i could probably compete with my xc ski mileage, but biking outside is nearly impossible these days.
I need less snow so I can ride distances worth noting in general
Done another 110 since putting my computer on the look this week. all up 195km. pretty happy considering its raining most mornings and nights.
31 miles yesterday
33 today
182 on the year so far.
68 since yesterday, 22 mile commute is going to really help my mileage
299.83mi/479.73km so far
93
48km from me today. Knee started hurting again, so I went home.
Shredded a quick 10 miles of gnar this afternoon.
Another 51km this morning. Cool enough for a long sleeve jersey.
Starting this year SLOW and building up:
Distance: 170 miles
Elevation Gain: 6512 feet
54k today
363k so far
130/3868.
The commute is 21.5-22 each way and ~1800' climbing.
62km yesterday/today. You guys ride heaps.
520.52mi/832.84km
I'll be getting a garmin next week, so I can start posting elevations.
HY and... HFMY!
in for feb, need to start getting my legs back
60km yesterday, which included 6km of racing. Lasted 6 laps in a C grade crit, they were averaging 42km/h. Not my kind of thing, especially in this condition.
227/8000, going to start adding some climbing back into my rides next weekend as the knee is finally starting to feel reasonable on a 40 mile 2k' elevation ride.
8k to work and back Tuesday and Friday
93k today
472 total
126km yesterday, and 30km today. Sore.
I'm up to like 230k. Fuckit.
Distance: 402.61 miles
Elevation Gain: 16,473 feet
606.23mi/968.38km I started tapering for racing. More intensity than distance.
Next week I'm going to get into a new routine.
298/11267, feel free to convert that to metric
345/13596
ending at 330km for the month or something. Three metrics and a few gimme kms. The weather and light is getting reasonable.
240 miles and 18,404'-0" (386km and 5,609m)
LOL. Stay right there. Imma go put some cones out. - Heath
edit2: dont GIS, i did, dont. NSFW - Miguel
One day left to go:
Distance: 509.63 miles
Elevation Gain: 21,145 feet
Just because we are all pussies I thought I would post something that a 65+ year old guy put up for January
Here are my stats for January 2011,
All but 50 miles on the Fixed
Year to Date Stats
Distance 1,360 mi
Time 85:17:14
Elev Gain 47,732ft
Total Rides 38
January is a lowish mileage month for him since there are only brevets in the 200-300km range happening.
