Bicycle Wheel Warehouse
Are a bunch of dirty fuckers!
A few weeks ago I ordered a pair of Open Pros laced to Ultegra with DT Swiss 14/15 double butted spokes and brass DT nipples.
The problems began immediately when I received no confirmation of the transaction from them.
My card had been charged but they neglected to make contact with me in any way.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited a day and when my email box was still empty the next morning, I sent them a message politely asking what the hell was going on.
Two days later I got a response telling me that the order had been received and was being processed.
I relaxed and waited for my wheels to show up at my office.
A couple weeks later, my mom calls me and asks if I'd had anything shipped to her house.
I was confused until I realized that my billing address is still my parents' house.
BWW had fucked up and sent my wheels to my mother.
So I finally got around to going over there to pick em up and when I opened the boxes, I discovered that they had built my wheels with STRAIGHT GAUGE SPOKES! in spite of the fact that they're not even an option on the website. They also included their shitty rim tape which I did not request.
In closing, everything about this transaction was fucked up on their end and I would never, ever recommend them to anyone friend or foe.
They are complete incompetents.

that sucks dude. sorry to hear that.
I have used bicyclewheels.com 3 times now, and they are amazing.
I was trying to order a pair of Ultegra/Open Pros from them awhile ago, but I had a question that I wanted answered before I placed the order. I sent them 3 emails and called them twice, but they never got back to me. I finally said "fuck it" and started to order them. I ended up backing off and stopping the order right before I put my credit card number in because I found the same wheelset on CL for less money at the very last second.
The very next day, I get a phone call from a number that I don't recognize. It's some bro from BWW calling to tell me that I forgot to complete my order. We barked at each other for awhile, before he offered me 10% off of the purchase that I'm not going to make. I said thanks and hung up the phone.
This, of course, means a few things.
1 - They're too busy to respond to emails and phone calls.
2 - They store your information, even if you don't complete a purchase. Of course, this may be true with all websites without me knowing. They don't even try to hide the fact that they're doing it.
3 - They don't have the time to respond to emails, but they have the time to call about incomplete orders.
4 - They're generous enough to offer you 10%, but not generous enough to apologize about not getting back to you.
I can't speak of the quality of their wheelsets, but I can totally say that I was turned off by this whole debacle. They do have good deals, but I expect more than just that when I'm buying stuff. I'd rather spend an extra 30 bucks on a $200 purchase and deal with someone who knows how to treat the customer right.

I actually had a pretty good experience with them.
Ordered some wheels online, I get a call an hour later "we built up a set similar for a customer but with diff spokes, we can send it out right away. no price change for you"
It was an upgrade for me so I said yes and wheels rocked.
wth: Star Fleet Academy is still not a real thing.
just an fyi- rusty piton was wrong on the straight/vs. butted spokes- the wheels were indeed built with butted spokes- it is very hard/impossible to tell if the spokes are butted or not with the naked eye
Biek you are a retard and I hope you die in a fire for this.
00:50:17 ‹EXPRESS INSTRUC›I mean I hope there is drama because of this but for once I'm not trolling, except with the pedo bear shit
lulz ^.
i thought that might be the case. alot of the butted spokes are butted right at the hub flange. if you run your finger down the spoke all the way to the hub flange you can usually feel the butt profile...
Did you really expect this to be handled in a mature and dignified manner? It's fucking tarckbike.
You can't expect too much when ordering a custom wheelset online for a super cheap price. Next time, go to a local wheelbuilder instead, it is going to cost more, but knowing the person that built your wheels is an excellent feeling and they usually can do repairs for you at little or no cost. I've spent over $400 on several custom wheelbuilds and they have held up for years without issue. As cookietruck mentioned, yes it is easy to see & feel the difference between butted and straight guage spokes.
Chato spends more on $400 custom wheelsets than you make in a year.
