ITT we like sending and receiving mail
Post your letters before you send them. Show off-what your friend just sent you.
Yup, I love a good care package. Or a handmade, sewn up post card with a sweet found envelope. This kinda stuff makes me really happy, and helps me pass time at work. There is really something to be said about actually mailing stuff to your friends. Its taking the time to really communicate with another person.
So, anyone else like that kinda stuff?

I was thinking of making a thread like this a few days ago. I love getting mail!
Tarck has been proven to be filled with a bunch of morons who can't mail things out in time, but if there's enough interest I'd be so down with trading letters or random shit via USPS with people interested. But I digress...
Next time I do this, I'll be sure to post up in here. My g/f and some buddies of hers always trade burned CD's and photo postcards randomly. It makes me wish I had more friends spread out just so I could mail cool stuff to them.
Gnarshred The Barbarian and the Banhammer of DOOM
I was involved with a print exchange a couple years back. It was cool to get a print in the mail; something totally random that was sent out like a postcard.
I'd be interested in participating.

I can dig this thread.
When I studied abroad in England, I made an effort to write a good number of handwritten letters to friends back home. There was something about the connectedness that is inherent in this process. Whether it was writing while on the train or sitting at my desk, it was a lot of fun to actually write things down. It is a craft to write a good letter. (I am pretty sure I still have all the ones I received while in the UK, too).
And of course, it is a blast to receive things that are not bills or adverts in the mailbox.
Since I have been in state college, I have sent a few more post cards or care packages with CDs or other objects I saw fit to keep a connection with friends back in Illinois.
I'd be down with participating, too.
i would be interested, but i am terrible at sending things out. i do it eventually, but i am always late
Every time littlebear posts, an angel does a barspin. -Supervillian on the third day coleman made tarck, and he said it was good -antcave Frankie is a tea party friend, good nanny -sneaking viking (◕㉨◕)
I'd be down, I think.
Oh shit, this is the Tarck Jersey thing all over again.
In another interweb forum I used to participate in, somebody in Australia made a remote control model sailplane that could be collapsed down into a sturdy mailing case. The plane was sent all over Australia, flown at a bunch of different scenic locations by participants of the forum. and its logbook was updated with all the details. It eventually made it to the US, up and down the West Coast and into the Midwest. I think it got to Europe too, but not sure. In any event, there was a lot of "dude why the fuck haven't you sent this yet" type stuff in the sticky dedicated to the plane and its journey.
I think hardcore interweb forum participants are not so good with physical mail/packages. Coz no time, have to check JA thread / etc.

I'm really into sending/receiving mail! I tried to send out a bunch of my drawings to members on this forum awhile back but I didn't get many addresses :( I also flaked on sending Bold a full color burner (If you read this, sorry. If I have your address again, maybe I'll try to whip something up!)
So uhh, I really like receiving these small, graffiti-type handmade zines:

My girlfriend always writes me letters on neat envelopes she got while in Japan

(letter was in the packaging)
The best things are the letters. She writes in really nice cursive, but not posting cos mushy.
I don't have a camera at the moment so I had to use my phone. Sorry for the crappy pictures.

Getting mail is like getting invited to meetings.
At first you are all "OH SHIT SOMEONE CARES ABOUT MY THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS AND HOPES AND DREAMS"
Then after like the 800th one you are like "is it possible to suffocate myself with my phone without anyone noticing and trying to stop me?"
wth: Star Fleet Academy is still not a real thing.
i sent you my address and didn't receive anything.

how's this sound. list of all tarckers interested. every month, the list is randomized into pairs so tarckers send something the other person. this wouldn't take too much and it' monthly so plenty of time to send the stuff. what do you think?
When faced with the gnar, you shred -DangerScott
I like the sentiment but think it's better to keep it random and non-commital. Send something to some random person if, and when, you feel like it. No tears, no pressure, all fun & surprises.

alright, so everyone interested has a list of everyone else's address? sounds simple enough.
When faced with the gnar, you shred -DangerScott
yea, dont make it secret-santa-y, that shit always gets fucked up cause of how flaky most people are.
I, like most people, really enjoy receiving mail. Mail is personal in its time-consumption - THEREFORE! I usually only mail things to close friends.
My then-best friend moved away from San Francisco two years ago to live life as a crusty, train-hopping punk who settled in the growing seasons to learn how to farm. His cellphone was unreliable; though it was one of those pay-as-you-go plans, he so rarely had money he was willing to put toward it. Computers were/are scare, only encountered every few weeks at a public library or the residence of a settled friend. Consequently we fell into a routine of letter writing - he would jot things down on a road where paper was plentiful, occasionally enclosing a couple trinkets or goofy comic strips he found. I'd write letters in reply and keep them until I got word of his settling for a season so I could mail them off at once.
We've since grown apart but goddamn am I all about the postal service now.
Federal, state and local taxes — including income, property, sales and other taxes — consumed 9.2% of all personal income in 2009, the lowest rate since 1950, the [United States] Bureau of Economic Analysis reports. That rate is far below the historic average of 12% for the last half-century.
so basically, let's post our addresses in this thread?
OR SOMEWHERE ELSE? google spreadsheet?
One gear for you One gear for me You want a fork? Start a GB-STEVER
Why would I make fun of you? And when have I made fun of you in the past?
Honestly Kate, I am shocked at your lack of faith in me. :)
It never troubles the wolf how many the rabbits may be.
I hate checking the mail just like I hate checking my email because it's never anything I wanna read. I dunno why, I think that maybe I'm just way too good at being incommunicado, or not establishing the routine of that sort of communication with people. Even with my phone I think I use it once every other day during the week. 99% of the time it's just "hey let's meet up xxxx place xxxx time". It usually doesn't bother me but clearly I don't keep in touch with people I don't see all the time very well and occasionally I'll accidentally ignore something important.

Have I already made a reply in this thread? I feel like I have! I find pleasure in writing my thoughts and all the fun and excitement I had during the day.
I like to read and hear about the daily lives of others no matter how mundane or boring it may seem. It is interesting to see life through somebody else's eyes. What they like, what they dislike, how they are feeling that day, and what they'll be feeling after grabbing that burrito from that new taco truck down the street.
This I think could be the start of something beautiful.

Paper and mail are unnecessarily carbon intensive when you can use internets.
We all know tarck isn't backward's compatible.
