colnagos don't ride as well as everyone would have you believe. You already have a sweet road bike. But dear lord that paintjob is unreal.

I'll just add my voice to the "No" chorus. Cantilevers aren't all they're cracked up to be - they're difficult to set up and nearly impossible to get as much stopping power as a good dual pivot brake. If you have all the other criteria already met, then this frame would likely be a step back, since the quality appears so-so and it doesn't have braze-ons for a front fender.

Thanks for the compliment on the Pinarello. She's been my baby since '01 and has been slowly evolving since then. It's aluminum, which is fine since Giovanni did some creative things with tubing geometry to get some of the harshness out where it is unwanted, but I still want a solid classic steel bike eventually.

I slept on the decision overnight and did a bit more research. It turns out the Tecnos is designed for riders who weigh 160 lbs or less, and the Master is designed for riders who weight more than 160 lbs. I am firmly in master territory according to that design spec. I'd have to commit seppuku if I bought it, built it, and had it crumple beneath me.

That paint job is truly insane. I've decided to wait and eventually find a Master frame with either that paint scheme, orange/purple over silver/chrome (not sure if it exists), or orange/blue over silver/chrome (seen it a few times and it is hot).

PS - Your new purple cross machine is gorgeous - congrats.

It's a great price. Unfortunately, they are perpetually 'Out of Stock.'

whoa dammn that's awesome

Should I buy more bikes even though I totally don't need them? Holy epicc post of indecision coming up (with links!). I'm like the sol of bike fret right now.

I like transformer bikes. Like my cassaroll. But too much swiss army knifing results in stupid compromises.

Haz:
Beater cruiser with rack (ride most when not going fast)
Tarck. (ride most in summer)
Touring/road/winterbike (steel cassaroll with rival/fixie in winter). (ride most rest of time)
Dumbster'd 26" Alu MTB with shit Roxshox and singulator. (ride on trails)

Want:
sick old SLX or whatev' steel frame to put Force stuff on and crazzy wheels. Like this, (fav. bike ever, too small) but with Force
SS29er to replace ghetto ss26er. Tomicog the rear disc and make a winterbike? Option 1. Option 2.
Cross bike (if in fact get into cross, until then ride cassa in races.)
^
all these changes would make cassaroll redundant. And would necessitate full touring bike. But one only goes touring like 2x a year. Quandry.
need:
none of the above. Except one bike to get around.
fml. and fuck this post. Brain ramblings. but still, anything I'm forgetting to lust after?

So ITP: buy force stuff from me so I don't feed my excessive bike purchasing/building. Then I'll shut up. until I get into BMX or whatever other wack shit awaits me around the corner of bikedom.

kewl. it wants a carbon fork though. I would feel pretty silly buying a really baller bike before getting into cross, I wanna try it for a season on my cassaroll, cuz I'd suck anyway but probably wouldn't damage the bike as I'm decently competent.

I ride a 57cm c-c square. give or take. I'd be entertained by anything with a story :). In MTB land probably a 20" but don't know about 29er sizing. In Fla you don't have seasonal bikes like us mountain bastards, I bet. Probably like a dedicated rain bike?

but full ultegra and it's a helluva lot cheaper than TCR's go for new. The only reason I'm even considering is because it is local and I am looking for a bike to race on.

You could lowball him and see how that goes. This time of year, it's pretty hopeful to think you can get $1100 for a five year old bike with an older generation group on it.

I would, but I don't know how much $$$ that thing will end up going for. I'm sure that would be an absolutely awesome frame.

I'd have to think long and hard about that Grizzly. Those bikes are baller, but I don't know if I'd drop $500 on it if it didn't come with a squishy fork up front.

a) do you ride a 44cm?
b) won't a 44cm with 700c's have wonky geometry?
c) that is listed locally on cl, if you really want it i could buy it locally , maybe try to haggle, and ship to you so you don't have to wrangle with ebay.

It's got a 53cm effective top tube and the headtube is pretty long for a 44. I think it'll ride like a bigger bike, only with more seatpost showing.

As CKD points out, that's classic compact geometry, which is pretty normal by now and shouldn't raise any eyebrows. The bike is my size. It was already listed once, for the same price, and no one bid. I think it's an odd size and a bad time of year to be dumping a track bike. I've always loved and lusted after IF frames, and buying a similar bike like that new would probably run me $2000, but I'm still not sure though that I want to lay out $700 on another new bike, especially contingent on selling two others bikes off-season.

I would trust what Craig Calfee says.

Unfortunately the loading mechanisms in tubing made from carbon fiber reinforced polymers are much more complex than in homogeneous metal tubes. If designed really well, CF frames can be great, but things like interfacial delamination between layers of the layup and even separation of the fibers from the matrix at their interface due to some fatigue mechanisms are their Achilles' heal. Because so many variations in fiber geometry and layup methods exist, you have to be really careful about what you buy. A good deal of it is crap.
