i have no problem letting someone else "win" while i ride circles around them
It's not that anyone wants to "win". I'm sure nobody really cares about winning. It's the competition that's fun and unfortunately, in the first place position, there presently is none.

First to answer you Q, 31/50
For points I got 10th.
Hotlap points on the second lap and I took second behind my potential-soon-to-be-teammate from the Shower's Pass clique. I pulled off the front and dropped to the back of the pack to recover. During this time I missed getting in the breakaway that stayed away for the rest of the race.
Originally there were 15 riders in the break. My group collected 6 burnouts. I worked to recruit from my pack to take turns pulling, but no one wanted to cooperate. Fucking team bbc had four guys in the lead break and four behind in mine. The four behind literally played games to slow everyone down. For instance, made a phony jump and I went with it only for them to call it quits and left me in between trying to bridge the gap alone for two miles. During that time I almost caught the lead group, but burned out with 20 yards separation. Then fell all the way to the back of the pack and spent a lap trying to catch the tail of the degenerate group. that SUCKED.
Satisfyingly, many of the fast guys didn't place tonight. Walton (team mash) got 28th.
I'm getting on a team that pulls, right away.

Just shit talkin' my competitors. (isn't it mandatory?)
Did 33.5 with Tour de Nash this weekend and 6.6 riding to karaoke later that day. 9.7 running random errands (groceries, laundry, bar run) while resting the rest of the weekend. Missed a day of riding to work this week so I'm only at 24 mi riding to work and back this week. Ride of silence tonight should make up for that though. So I'm at 73.8 for the week. Have a good trip, Kowloon.

I switched to clips and straps 2 weeks ago after one of the tension springs on my eggbeaters broke, and the past couple of days I've had a growing pain in my achilles tendon after ~30-40 miles. I think I'm going to avoid riding until I get my pedals back from CrankBros.

That would be Mr. Rusty Piston who is in a distant second. I suppose your point is that he needs to HTFU and put in some real mileage?

I have no intention of "winning".
I'm going climbing next week so I'm sure I'll fall way behind everybody.
But hey, I'll finally be able to get some KOM (though not on a bike).
WTH? Slacker. Maybe Jake can pick up his game and we can have a close race for second.

WTH, I thought I was going to be sneaky and open up a gap between us by putting in 40 miles today. Presently, I have no idea what my overall mileage is.

You spoiled that tactic with all your talks of close-second.

Right. Um, well, today, I'm not riding at all.
Also folks, it's Thursday, week 3 ends tonight at midnight. Post up your mileage and elevation gain. It's best if you use the terminology "Week 3 overall mileage" or some such so that I know it's your official report for the leaderboard.

Forgot to note where I was yesterday, but the total as of now is 1295.6km on the pooter plus ~80km on the track bike. Hoping to add another 300 tomorrow.
question: how many people are riding predominantly a track bike in this? I think maybe 50-60 of my miles have been on my road bike and the rest are on my track bike. i'm curious how everyone elses miles are divided up.
normally i would be doing almost all of it fixed. commute + ride after classes for about 35-40 miles/day. however, i graduated, and built myself a road bike, so mines like 75% geared right now. next month it'll be 50/50, as soon as the whole new bike smell fades.
excellent.
I don't really care about a rule. js.
AND.
this competition really succeeds as a way to get me to ride more miles than I normally might.
